The Houston Texans are set to host the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football, for the first time since 2019, when Deshaun Watson squared off against Tom Brady.

Houston was relatively healthy heading into week one last weekend, but that list has gotten a bit longer. Here is a look at the weekly injury report:

DID NOT PARTICIPATE:

  • Running back Dameon Pierce (Hamstring) QUESTIONABLE
  • Center Juice Scruggs (Groin) QUESTIONABLE
  • Safety M.J. Stewart (Knee) OUT

FULL PARTICIPATION:

  • Wide receiver Nico Collins (Illness)
  • Tight end Dalton Schultz (Ankle)

The Texans could be without their starting center Juice Scruggs this weekend, who will test out his injury before the game to determine if he can go or sit. His backup would be Jarrett Patterson, who was selected in the sixth-round of the 2023 draft.

While losing Scruggs would be a hit to take for most teams, Patterson’s performance at center was admirable-to-good during stretches of last season. FanDuel currently has the Texans as 6.5 point favorites to win, and it would be surprising if the shuffle at center would have any significant impact on the game.

Patterson started seven games last season and proved to be an above average starter when given the opportunity.

If Dameon Pierce is not healthy enough to play, expect to see a bit more of Cam Akers, who shined during the preseason. As long as veteran Joe Mixon is healthy, they should not have any problems.

The Texans are heading into week two of the NFL season relatively healthy for the second week in a row.
